This week I’ve been talking a LOT about the importance of building up your YouTube channel.
Last week on our weekly Hangout we talked about tips for being on camera and getting started vlogging.
Today I want to show you EXACTLY how easy it is! I’ll walk you through the steps for how to use Google Hangouts to record your own video. And Google is so nice, they’ll upload it to your YouTube channel for you!
How to Do a Google Hangout
Step 1 – Log in to your G+ account
Step 2 – Go to Hangouts on the menu bar on the left
Step 3 – Click the blue “Start a Hangout on Air” button about 1/3 of the way down the page
Step 4 – Give it a name and description using the keywords you are shooting for. Leave it on Now and then click Share
Step 5 – It will take you to the main page. Click the blue Start button.
Step 6 – Allow them access to your webcam and hit skip on inviting people (unless you’re doing an interview)
Step 7 – Click the Hangouts Toolbox on the left menu and then add in your name (if you want) on the right side
Step 8 – Click the green Start Broadcast button at the bottom. It will tell you at the top right when it’s live
Step 9 – When you’re done, click the red Stop Broadcast button at the bottom. Then click the red phone at the top to end the call. It will automatically publish to your G+ page and your YouTube channel. (Be sure you’re using the right email so that it goes to the account you want it to.)
Step 10 – Double check your title and description. Embed it in your post! (After I write my post and embed my video…I go back and center it. Put
before the iframe and then put
after it so that it centers your video. If you do this step and it centers everything below your video, just take it out and go back and add it at the end.)
