How many times a day do you check your stats?
Once? Twice? Every hour? More?
Checking your blog stats can become addicting very quickly….especially after having your first BIG day.
But all that checking does nothing for your productivity or your ego.
Personally I had a HUGE month back in June, but my stats slowly fell back to where they probably should have been…at a steady rate of growth.
This up and down has done nothing for my blog-ego. Each time I check my stats (and I have 2 main blogs so double the feelings), my ego takes a hit to the gut.
And I’ll admit…some days I check my stats every hour (both StaCounter and Analytics) LOL.
And then other days…it’s 2pm before it occurs to me.
Don’t get me wrong…checking your stats can tell you a lot of what your readers like, what your most popular posts are and where you should be taking your blog.
BUT…it can also be horrible for your self image and can throw you into a downward spiral with negative feelings towards your blog.
I’d like to challenge you to walk away from your stats…aka a stat-ervention!
I want you to take the month of October and focus on you and your blog.
What do you like about your blog? What makes you feel like you’re helping other people by blogging?
What is your big WHY for blogging?
Take a step back from worrying about your traffic and just do what you love.
Am I asking you to not look at your stats at all for one month? No
I’m asking you cut it down…either to once a day or once a week or the 15th and the 31st.
Just take the pressure of traffic off the table and focus on what you love.
Leave a comment telling me how many times you commit to checking your stats in Oct.
