There are so many important things that bloggers need to do to get traffic to their blogs. One very important, and at times, confusing thing that every good blogger should focus on is SEO. The topic of SEO is very broad and diverse, so I will be writing many, many, posts about it and how you can get the most out of it. Today I want to keep things as simple as possible and just give you a very basic understanding of what SEO is.
What is SEO exactly? SEO stand for Search Engine Optimization. Basically speaking using it is what helps the search engines like Google and Bing know what your blog and your posts are about. Search engines send trackers that comb your page for keywords. When they find enough keywords in certain places then it ranks you for them. When you rank well for certain keywords, or phrases, then your page will appear higher when someone does a search for those things and then you’ll hopefully get traffic by people clicking on your link. Plus it will help Google realize what your post is about. If you use Adsense then using good SEO helps Google be better able to know what corresponding ads to put in your post. When your ads correspond well with your post topic then readers are more likely to click on them.
To see SEO results though does take work and time. Obviously you need great content, but just writing is not going to help you rank in the search engines or see much traffic from them. If you really want to boost your SEO you’re going to need to do keyword research and then you’re going to need to implement what you’ve found. Now I know this sounds like a lot of work but in the weeks to come I am going to be helping you work through all this. The blogging course that I was trained by was big on SEO, so I have been studying it since I started blogging. I have quite a few posts that rank very highly on Google because I took the time to work on my SEO for them, so I see traffic to them every single day.
SEO can take some extra time when you’re blogging, but in the long run it will help increase your traffic and in turn the amount of money you can make. I want to help you help your posts to reach their fullest potential, so be on the lookout for more posts from me that help you better understand SEO one how to use it properly.
