Do you ever have a free 15 minutes to actually sit at your computer to write, but have no idea what to write about?
Yeah, me too!
Today I’d like to talk about the three kinds of posts you should be writing and the long term benefits of one of them.
You should strive to have current content on your site each week. These are deal, current events or personal stories that you share with your readers.
These don’t need to be SEO’d and can help make connections with your readers by providing them value and/or a deeper connection to you.
Seasonal blog posts are just that…seasonal.
So posts about Christmas are really only seriously popular for a few months.
You want to make sure to include this kind of content so that you are bringing in traffic regularly (if you do them for holidays in each season), but these posts are cyclical and will only bring traffic a few months of the year.
Evergreen content is content that is universal and relevant all year long. It solves a basic problem that people have.
These posts include topics such as:
- How to’s
- Goal setting
You need to be writing posts about evergreen content weekly that brings in a steady flow of traffic.
These are things that people regularly sit down at their computer and “Google”.
Make a Plan
Do your research. Make sure your topics are relevant to your site and your target audience.
Go to Google Keyword Planner and choose some good long tail keywords that have Low competition and are searched less than 10,000 times a month.
Choose 1 current topic to write about weekly. Choose one seasonal topic to write about weekly. Choose one evergreen topic to write about weekly.
Now when you have that 15 minutes to yourself, you will never again ask, “What should I write about?”
